I am posting this because of our series on “Bible Study Methods” with the teens, and because of the discussion we’ve had with them about the importance of Bible study. Unfortunately, many of the teens are not in the word of God and few have a desire to be in it. This is heartbreaking to us, the adult leaders, and we will continue to strive to encourage them to “grow their faith in Jesus Christ” through daily regular interaction with Him in His Word.
Young Bible Readers More Likely to be Faithful Adults, Study Finds – Lifeway Research
I am passing on an interesting survey from Lifeway Research.
“The key takeaway from the study is a simple yet profound finding that God’s Word is truly what changes lives.” Young Bible readers are more likely to be faithful adults, according to the study.
Of a list of eight spiritual practices that support key spiritual growth in a young adult’s life, all eight were developed in childhood and teenage years. The eight spiritual practices are: They identify as a Christian. Shares their faith with unbelievers. Is involved in the church. Reads the Bible regularly. Serves in the Church. Teaches others at church. Serves in the community. Supports local and foreign missions. Of the 3,472 adult children polled, 66% only had two or less of these identifiers. 11% did not identify as Christians, or they identified as Christian but have none of the other spiritual practices (39%)
I have also given you a link to a second survey (Fewer Than 1 in 3 Churchgoers Read the Bible Daily – Lifeway Research) from the same group, which reports that fewer than 1 in 3 churchgoers read the Bible daily.
