Board of Elder’s

The Elder’s at CBC are devoted to the LORD and desire to serve Him by ministering to the needs of the church family.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

Doctrine

It is the Elder’s responsibility to ensure that CBC stands firm on the inerrant Word of God. All doctrinal related issues are settled by the Board of Elders

Direction

It is the Elder’s responsibility to ensure the direction of CBC is consistent with that of the Word of God and in alignment with CBC’s Vision Statement and its Pillars

Discipline

It is the Elder’s responsibility to, in love and humility, correct  issues as they arise with the congregation. God has charged the Elder’s  with this responsibility and commanded that it be administered in accordance to His will and guidelines.

Example

All Christians have been called by God to live Christ-like lives. The Elder’s life is to be a demonstration of this truth. This does not mean that the Elder is called to perfection, only Christ lived the perfect life, however,  the heart of an Elder must be to do the will of God.

 

Selection Process

At CBC Elder’s rotate on and off the Elder Board in a staggered sequence every three years. Potential Elder’s are identified through a selection committee. This committee identifies men who meet the strict qualifications of Elder from the Word of God. Once identified and the person selected agrees to the nomination they will be interviewed by the members of the current Elder Board. Once approved they will be voted on by the congregation.
